Commercial Director

Location: Utrecht

Are you passionate about life sciences and health technologies, and do you offer helicopter views across markets and scientific fields? We certainly do, and need some extra hands. 

In this new role, you are responsible of refining and expanding ttopstart’s business development strategies in order to boost the commercial growth of the company, lead the business development team and generate market insights for the generation of new and improved services, all in line with ttopstart’s financial targets.

The Commercial Director is leading a dedicated team of business developers and marketeers  and coordinates the business development and sales process – ranging from identifying interesting potential clients towards closing partnerships with universities, hospitals, biotech and medtech companies in Europe.

As part of the Management Team, you will be the responsible for all activities related to co-developing and implementing the business and marketing strategy, achieving business targets and supporting our customers in Europe.

What You’ll do:

  • Co-design a European business development strategy and develop KPIs
  • Develop budgets for the team(s)
  • Source, structure, negotiate, execute, and implement strategic partnerships
  • Develop a deep understanding of customer needs, priorities and unmet needs and pro-actively translate this into actionable strategies for the business development and consulting teams.
  • Support the career development process of the business development and marketing team
  • Align with our mission and vision to transform healthcare and accelerate meaningful innovations to market.


  • We're looking for a pro-active commercial expert that thrives in a small and dynamic team environment and is excited to create new business
  • 6+ years’ experience in a healthcare BD role with a strong track record of building partnerships
  • Relevant network in European life sciences and healthcare market and proven record of creating partnerships and negotiating deals
  • Must be willing to travel 
  • Pro-active, self-starter mentality with good organizational skills
  • Ability to thrive under pressure in a semi-structured, fast-paced environment
