Creating lasting impact with your research project – Successful Project Management (part 4)

October 11 2018

At ttopstart we work with consortium partners beyond the grant agreement and beyond the duration of the grant. We believe in co-creation and life-cycle thinking. It means that we aim for sustainable results and project outcomes and creating true lasting impact. This is the fourth and final article + video in our project management series, where we take a look at the four key elements, which we have identified, for successful delivery of your research project; involved partners, cross stakeholder involvement, lasting partnerships and lasting impact. We end this series, by taking a look at what we mean when we say ‘lasting impact’ and why this is an important element to keep in mind throughout the development of your project.

In this video, our Project Managers Karin and Femke give you an overview of how to ensure that your research project will create lasting impact:

What do we mean when we talk about ‘lasting impact’?

At ttopstart, when we talk about impact we mean more than just publishing and sharing your scientific knowledge. With a true lasting impact, we want to see results implemented in healthcare, where is can make a real difference for patients. This step actually means valorisation of your results, but it goes beyond that.

The question you need to ask yourself is: ‘what do you bring to the market and who will benefit from it?’ At ttopstart we understand what it means to bring you results forward and create sustainable and lasting impact.

How to establish lasting impact, the 3 most important steps:

  1. Understanding hurdles & opportunities: At ttopstart we have ample experience with exploitation of results. We understand the hick ups you might encounter. But most importantly, we see, or better, we create opportunities for your project to go beyond the state of science;
  2. Business modelling: To exploit results, we are well known with various business models. We can truly help creating that business environment that is needed to establish the next step of creating impact;
  3. Execution & Uptake: One step further is to have your stakeholders take your result and use it to their best practice. That is real uptake and thereby the true lasting impact.

Funding agents are eager to learn about your efforts to maximise your impact, and so are we! If you also see the added value in creating that lasting impact for your scientific results, contact us by filling out the form below, or send us an e-mail at
