Horizon 2020 new WP: first calls open

October 31 2017

As of today, the first calls of the Horizon 2020 (H2020) Work Programme (WP) 2018-2020 have been opened for submission.

This marks the opening of the final H2020 phase, which has a total budget of around €30 billion to support innovative researchers in Europe. Here we provide a short overview of the most relevant opened calls that could be of interest to the Life Sciences sector.

Future and Emerging Technologies (FET)

Within the FET programme, two areas are now open for submission:

  • FET Proactive: aims at identifying future and emerging technological paradigms which have the highest potential for both the economy and society of Europe. Deadline is on 22 May 2018.
  • FET Flagships: are meant to tackle the grand challenges in science and technology. Deadlines in 2018 are on 20 February, 17 April and 18 September (second stage).

Information and Communications Technologies (ICT)

In addition, several calls of the ICT Work Programme are suitable for Life Science researchers. Within this work programme, we identified four relevant calls with a deadline on 17 April, that focus on:

EU-Korea Joint Call (EUK)

Lastly, one interesting call for EUK has opened, which invites proposals on Cloud, Internet of Things and Artificial Intelligence, deadline on 31 January 2018.  An important criterion for this call is that the consortium should include a Korean partner.
